Needles in the Hay is for sale!
Needles in the Hay is a lovely little yarn shop in
Peterborough, Ontario. Located on Water Street, it is part
of a thriving small business community in the downtown
core. Opened in January 2010, it has served local
knitters, crocheters, and fibre artists for six years and
Needles in the Hay stocks a wide variety of natural fibre
and natural/acrylic blend yarns. The majority of our yarns
are wool-based, but fibres such as alpaca, llama, silk,
cotton, rayon, and bamboo are no strangers here. Yarns
are arranged by weight (thickness) to aid customers in
selecting and substituting appropriate yarns for their
projects. We also stock books, magazines, single
hard-copy patterns, wool roving, wool wash, notions, and
a wide selection of needles.
The main area of the shop is outfitted with a table and
chairs as well as a cozy window seat. The shop uses this
space to host a weekly knitting night, the Purlez-Vous
Knitting Social, every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9. We
also schedule classes in knitting, crochet, rug hooking,
needle felting, and related topics in the fall and winter
There is a washroom on the ground floor which serves
staff and customers. There is also a small area in the back
of the shop for storage, and a small kitchenette for staff
use. Total ground floor space is approximately 465
square feet including bathroom and kitchenette. There is
also a full basement for overstock storage.

as well as furnishings and fixtures in the shop. If you
